Squares not listed in May’s or June’s Square List

Hi!

I need to find out if squares I sent approximately two months ago made it.  I do not see them in the May or Junelist and I followed the packaging and mailing instructions to the letter.

Thank you,

Ana

cast off

I have been given a large donation of squares from people who did not leave a 20" tail when casting off.  Can these still be used for blankets?   Is there something I can do to correct it?

Thanks,

Audrey

LITTLE LIBRARIES

You can find magic wherever you look

Sit back and relax, all you need is a book. (Dr. Seuss)

Little Libraries (LL) was started in 2013 by Camille Quine as an act of kindness to one school and was not intended as a project but, like KAS and Topsy, it just grew.…

Meeting Wendy in Joburg

Hello everybody,

I had the chance to meet Wendy two weeks ago on the day of our arrival in Joburg for a safari to Botswana.

We just had a short time frame to talk and hand over the goods we carried with the luggage but I loved Wendy from first sight and hope I can return soon to South Africa and volunteer for a couple of days at KAS.…

I've been hacked!

Friends of mine have told me they have received a strange email from me. Some of the names they were sent to are from the forum. If you are one of these names please don't open it and delete it. I HAVE NOT SENT IT AND KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT.

Questions from a new member

As a "knitter and crocheter" was looking for a website-forum such as this.  Before I get started, have a few questions would like to "talk" about with any member willing to respond.  Thanks for your help, glad to be aboard.

Bbc radio Merseyside

A few months ago I put a notice in my church's newsletter asking people to make 8inch squares for KAS. To date I have received 720 squares which is great. This was picked up by the local radio station who rang and asked me if I would go on one of their shows to talk about it. How could I refuse to spread the word, even though I was a bit nervous about it? The interview was recorded on Thursday and today was the day it was broadcast and they are giving enquirers my details tomorrow. Who knows… Continue

My last post :(

Yesterday I went to the doctor to get my foot checked out. It has been very sore lately and very recently it started to turn black. My doctor told me it was necrosis, the result of a broken ankle from when I fell down the stairs to my laundry room. This means that my foot is literally dead and will need to be amputated, so I expect to be out for a few weeks or months. I will truly miss reading all of your stories and blog posts. Goodbye for now.

Dog yarn!

Time to make another batch of my special home made yarn!

Just had my nephew Jason shave my dear companion Rufus (my dog) yesterday. You can't tell from the picture, but the amount of hair that came off that dog is large enough to make about 20-30 feet of yarn! I enjoy making my own yarn out of dog hair, as I find that it's quality is superior to that of regular yarn. I just love making things from scratch; nothing pays off like hard work! Oh dear, I think I just…

Dog Yarn

Most people buy store-bought yarn for their knitting, but I prefer to make my own. Not only is it cost efficient, but it's softer and much easier to knit with. Manufactured yarn that you buy at the store just doesn't compare to when you make it yourself. Some people like to use wool from a sheep, but I have found that dog hair works just as well. Every couple of months I clip my dog's hair and use a hand spindle to spin the hair into yarn. It takes about 8 to 12 hours to make seven feet of…

There are more than 500 women knitting for KAS in the Czech republic

Hello everybody,

I want to share how proud I am of all the ladies in the Czech republic (small country in the heart of Europe) who have  decided to support this project.  I translated the KAS web page into Czech language a few month ago. The website was shared on Facebook four days ago and we have almost 600 members now....

Almost everybody in the Czech republic is  now busy with knitting or  crocheting....and wishing from the bottom of their   hearts only the best to all the…

are these squares unacceptable

My friend and I did not check the KAS website (big mistake) before she made several squares for me to ship for her.  She didn't know that she needed to add tails,  and the squares vary in size quite a bit.  Some are almost 8" x 8", but others are as small as 6" x 6".  Is there any hope for these squares?  (I don't think that she'll want to redo them.)

are these squares unacceptable?

My friend from church and I did not look at the KAS website (big mistake) before she made some squares for me to ship for her.  Consequently, she didn't know that she was supposed to leave tails, and some of the squares are only 6" x 6".  Is there any hope for these squares?  (She will not want to redo them.)
