Hi Vera, our second cat, is part Siamese and does not like her picture taken LOL
Acrylic yarn is good for squares and caps, if that's what you have. But it is always nice to go shopping for yarn :-) Bright colours are definitely appreciated by the children. They have so little that a bit of colour brightens their lives.
Check with the US group for posting. A person in Florida has offered to send squares, etc for the US group. The items must be received in Florida by the middle of December. This will save you $$ in postage !
Greetings Vera, from a fellow cat lover up in Canada above MN! Welcome to a worldwide network of loving happy people helping African Aids orphans. Glad to have you with us. It's so heartening to know that in this global, often so impersonal world, we're actually making a difference, a REAL difference, in the lives of these children. Check out the Forum, above, for the various discussion threads, and Photos for all the lovely photos of members' work and Groups where you can join groups from countries around the world.
The Featured Discussions grouping (in the Forum section) show the most important subjects at the moment, latest challenges, latest news etc. I also recommend the Anyone Want to Chat Discussion section, which contains the Our Furry Companions and Yarnaholics threads. I am so much a Yarnaholic! Thanks again for helping the AIDS orphans in Africa!
Hello Vera, so glad you’ve joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.
Love your avatar photo :-)
Do you like to make hats ? Ronda, in South Africa, has asked us to make 600 red and white ones ! We are already over the halfway mark !! Click here to read why we’re making so many.
And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.
Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work. Click on the photo option at the top of the page and follow the prompts.
Hi Vera, Welcome to the KAS forum from the UK. I hope you will enjoy being part of this friendly & lively community. Do you knit or crochet or both? Around the world caring people are all taking direct action and team-working with the Ladies of the Soweto Comfort Club - it is making a difference to many parentless children. When you've had a chance to look around the site you would be very welcome to join the USA group for more local news and chat.
You can also personalize your own page by clicking on the My Page tab on the menu. Also you can access Settings on this page and set your privacy terms. For questions click on the Forum tab and then KAS - Questions, Answers and Help.
Very glad your web search directed to you our global knitting family! Check out the Hello & Welcome Letter by clicking the "Main Page" tab above. There you will find all kinds of information about KAS. Another great section to look over is the Photo tab - everyone is so supportive of the work on display.
"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.
