"Than you. I'm very pleased to hear it's all right. But sorry to hear that the creches have no electricity or washing machines. A stern reminder of what most of us take for granted! "

"Hello. I have been given 12 brand new balls of Rowan thick ‘brushed fleece’ made of 65% wool, 30% alpaca and  5% polyamide. This would be ideal for very warm and cosy hats (with other wool added here and there to make them all…"

Hi Michou.

Thank you so much for your continuing support of K-A-S and the children it supports.  :))

Thicker squares are absolutely perfect, too. When the squares reach South Africa they will be matched with those of equal 'thickness'. I find there can be quite a variation in the 'thickness' of DK yarns and on occasion I knit 2DK, too, otherwise they would be too thin.

Happy knitting......and please share pictures of your squares in our photo section, if you would like......no pressure.  xo

Hi Michou.

Happy New Year and a warm welcome to the Knit A Square forum..

Knitting or crocheting an 8" square or two or possibly even a few is a wonderful gift for the children. They love to receive their blankets, created from squares, which come from kindly, caring folk such as yourself, from over 60 countries all over our world.  PJs (Plain Janes as they are affectionately known) are the backbone of all our blankets. These are single colour squares that are in garter stitch(knitting) or single crochet as they are very solid and provide a contrast to a picture/striped/patterned square or two that may be added to a blanket.By clicking on the KASpattern book tab at the top of the page you can also find lots of patterns provided by our fellow K-A-Sers. If you would kindly check out our wishlist, you can see what items we are currently focusing on.
