"I'd love that. There's a great lack of knitters and crocheters near where I live. I'd love to have company. I do have one good friend who's a knitter, but she doesn't live really near. However, i do give her a lot of yarn…"

"A rewarding task never the less Valerie, my kind of challenge.   If I lived near you I'd pop around + help lighten the load ✔️"

"These look gorgeous Barbara. With 500 like these, there will be some fantastic blankets. I've never set any real targets, except that last month I decided that I would round up all my bits and bobs of yarn, left over from skeins that I'd…"

"What a novel way to keep your squares flat, Barbara. It looks like you've got some space on the next shelf down - let's hope we can send items off before you fill that one too!"

"Thanks, Marion. It's nice to be able to chat with other KAS knitters. Makes the whole thing feel less lonely, more like a community. That's why I think KAS is my favorite charity to knit for. Getting to chat with other knitters and…"

"Well, part of the fun of making stuff is trying different things. I'm getting inspired to make handwarmers too, now."

"That sounds like a great idea. I've never made hand warmers or hats for KAS, but I have a bunch of soft acrylic yarn that would be perfect for that. (I decided to use only wool for the squares, because it's naturally fire-resistant.) Is…"

"Here's a photo of the squares so far . . . perhaps by the time I get to 500, we will be able to ship from the US to SA again."

"Every theme monthly I sort of set myself tasks I hope to achieve, but I almost always have too many ideas of what to try out, or on needles.   I really try to go back and finish them all eventually. Generally though if I set an idea, like…"

Profile Information

What is your favourite stitch?
Hmmm...In knitting I like garter stitch and half-seed stitch (seed st on RS rows, stockinette st on WS rows.) In crochet I love the chain stitch (also called moss, granite or linen stitch), and texture stitches like jasmine, feather, berry, bean and trinity.

CREATECARE GLOBAL

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."

Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.
