"Sorry, but the mental image of that is just soooo funny......LOLOLOL. Wasn't that nice of other commuters to help you retrieve it ????!!!!!.
I hope the rest of your day goes better. :))
I am doing a square this morning using a variegated…"
"Thanks Bev. I always knit on the bus too and from work, so I did that this morning. I dropped a needle under the seat and it rolled away so a few people engaged in a search and rescue mission in the middle of a crowded bus, which was…"
Don't stress!!!! What you were participating in was also very important and worthy of your time and effort. I know how you feel...sometimes I will have a weekend planned and how many squares I plan on knitting...what yarn I want to…"
Unfortunately I didn't get any squares done this weekend despite my best intentions. I was roped into a fundraising charity garage sale for a women's domestic violence shelter and we raised over $1000 so it was still time well spent. I'll be making up for it this weekend though! You should see my donated stash though! It's going to take me a while to power thorough it all :-)See More
"I saw in Recent Activity that you were querying the number of stitches needed for a rib pattern from the Pattern Book. I don't know if you are referring to the 6 stitch one or the 2 stitch but yes, all rib patterns are very stretchy. I made a…"
"That's such a shame, Allison.....I know with some of the KAS patterns, and other patterns I find online, I have to add a few stitches, but like I said, I tend to have a firm tension. Unfortunately, I quite often unpick, but thankfully, due to…"
"I am not sure which pattern you are referring to, Allison. I tend to use a lot more stitches than that as I have a rather firm tension. I'm thinking it would also rely on the ply of yarn used. I would think to only have it 6" wide at the…"
I saw in Recent Activity that you were querying the number of stitches needed for a rib pattern from the Pattern Book. I don't know if you are referring to the 6 stitch one or the 2 stitch but yes, all rib patterns are very stretchy. I made a few of the 6 stitch for this theme recently and thinking like you I decided to use 33 stitches, forgetting that I would then need to slightly modify the pattern on the 'wrong' side. I ended up with a perfectly acceptable square but not the one illustrated. In the photo below the one on the left has 33 stitches and the rest 30. You do need to measure the length of the square whilst still on the needle as when you pull it out to 8" you find it's not as long as you thought. It is does actually work up very fast and is great for using up scraps as colour changes become a part of the pattern. Sorry to butt in but I hope this helps.
"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.
