Hi Susan, the pics on your blog are great - thank you. It was a great day wasn't it and what a fabulous response. Do we have square count for Downunder (Oz and NZ). I think we should start, with:

113 squares from Purl's Palace.

Hi Lindy

What a wonderful "first forum post". It's lovely to meet you and I'll be so excited to hear how your heritage blanket turns out. Zanny (my grandmother and creator of the heritage blanket pattern) is knitting one for me and I'm SO excited, the one she knitted for my mum is just so beautiful.

It's lovely that you have friends and family who help you out when it comes to patterns etc.

Keep up the good work Lindy.

Hi Down Under and Land of the Long White Cloud

This is my very first forum and hence my first words!

I am in Melbourne, northern suburbs, and although I haven't started knitting squares or jumpers or hats, I like reading the Square Circle Ezine. I have just down loaded the Heritage blanket amd I am getting quite excited about doing one for my daughter who is getting married next year.

I will also try to knit a square with an initial.

I am blind and have been for 30 or so years, but that hasn't stopped me from knitting. My mother and now friends dictate on to audio tape my patterns. I also have a disease called "increasing the stash and that includes pattern books as well as wool".

For my first effort of forum bonding, that is all for now.

Just wanted to say what a pleasure it was meeting Zanny and the Mcdonald girls, what an inspiring family. I will keep you posted Cressida if I finally work out the link between us. Letting as many friends know about the cause as possible, can't wait to tell my Mum!

Just a such a happy, productive day, great to meet you all. And what an achievement. Thanks to all the Purl's Princesses. And to you Susan especially for you part in it all.

Lovely to meet you too Susan

Thanks so much for all your hard work. It's really, really appreciated.

I've done about fifteen squares as well, but over a much longer period of time. Aiming for a blanket is a fabulous goal. Good luck and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Cheers Susan.

it was such a pleasure to finally meet you Kalai, and also Cressida and Sandy and to watch Cressida make her first foray into Knitdom :]

I've made a couple more squares since I got home yesterday so that takes my personal tally to 15 - I'm aiming at 40 so that even though they won't all go into one blanket, I can think of it as one blanket's worth ... so by that accounting I'm slightly over a third of the way to my goal.
