August 11, 2020 – Twelve boxes of squares on their way!

In this week’s episode, we hear from Cath Riley of Liverpool, a long-standing member of Knit-a-Square who has used her crocheting skills and community connections to send hundreds of blankets’ worth of squares to South Africa. She chats about her choice of shipping method and describes the process of gathering the squares ahead of dispatch.

We also hear from Vivienne, a volunteer living in Soweto, who talks about her involvement with the children at a local community outreach project and how they are managing during the lockdown with the closure of schools.

The June issue of KAS Snippets is now online.

This month our volunteers were able to visit The Barn twice, as well as help supply some distributions.

We also highlight several fun discussions on the the Forum.

June 16 2020 – Explore the Square Circle Forum!

In the first half of the show, Leanne chats to Lindi, Knit-a-Square’s longest-serving volunteer, who shares about life in Soweto during the lockdown and her work distributing blankets.

In the second half, she chats to Andrea, one of our hard-working moderators, about the Square Circle Forum. This is our membership platform which is easy to join and full of interesting conversation threads. This is where you’ll also find photos of completed blankets and distributions.

Unfortunately, this didn't last long. The latest info from Ronda is that the SA post has put a ban on all post from just about every country in the world except China, Singapore and a few others.

The Knit a Square BARN is now accepting parcels!

Yes, you can start shipping your parcels, but please check with your postal service to see if they are sending items to South Africa. The UK has just opened up services. The USA,Croatia and Canada to date are still NOT shipping to South Africa.

Reminders:
Use the packing slip/mailing label found under NOTES on this page.

Do NOT insure, register or track package. This adds heavy custom fees in SA.

Declare value of $0 or $1.

Declare as a gift.

Gloria has put together another amazing issue of the Snips that will keep you up to date with the Knit a Square community.

Leanne has a new Podcast where she is interviewing KAS members.

There is some news about the little activity in the KAS Barn.

Our Corona Corner is full of inspiration.

Hi Jenibelle.  I'm over here on the East Coast so have never mailed anything from BC.  However, I assume our costs would be similar through Canada Post.  For us here in NS, it costs just around $40 to mail a 2kg parcel.  I hope this helps ... xo

Hi! I was wondering what it usually costs to ship a parcel to the KASbarn from Canada, BC. Thank you!!

The April issue of Knit a Square Snippets has been posted to the Forum.

There is a wonderful tribute to KAS Sister Anne Powell, information about our first KAL headed by Rebecca in the UK and so much more.

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."

Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.
