Photos from March 3.
News from Ronda: WE NEED SQUARES. The Barn is increasingly short of blanket packs now. After Portia and Michael left with their five bags on March 3, we have only 8 bags remaining. (each bag holds 9 blankets). The next two weeks will see at least another 3 gogo groups returning their blankets and expecting to take more bags of blanket packs back with them.
Please remember that our 2020 goal is to distribute 6000 blankets to children in need.

Baby blankets and items set aside for Sister Sue. Please remember there will be no follow up photos or discussions of the baby items being distributed.
Thank you for these pictures. I always enjoy a wee peek into the Barn as it seems so industrious. I get the message that squares are urgently needed and my needles are clicking every day for sure ❤️
Thank you for the photos, Amy ... and the volunteers who take them :))) I see there are lots of toys and hats and yarn. For every one of those items, we need 35 squares to complete a package for a child!! Like Karen, message received. I'm making squares ... :))) ... xo
3 squares today while isolating!
I hope that you are not feeling ill - and great use of your isolation time.
I was ill but as I had earache not a corona symptom I think I'm just bog standard ill. I had pneumonia a few years ago so these things hit me harder. I'm trying to avoid going out as much as possible.
Mary - I know what you mean. I have had pneumonia and pleurisy over the last years and so am prone to chest infections...... I have just about got over what should (on my usual schedule) be the last one for this winter. My husband has banned me from going out of the house other than for a walk round the block or into the garden..... I have a lot of knitting to get on with both for gifts and for KAS and also for the Knitting and Crochet Guild where I am doing a Knit Along and leading a KAL in a couple of weeks......
Mary, I hope you are feeling okay. I agree with Rebecca ... great use of your time :)) ... xo
Good for you, Mary! I'm doing the same thing - hunkering down and making squares.
After 2 months of lock down, some ladies were able, with permit letter, to get into the barn to sort and gather squares to take home and make more blankets.
Here are Ronda's comments and Estelle's photos.
Yesterday I managed to get a formal “permit” from government to travel further afield from the house – to the KASbarn !!
As Chairman of the Board, Peter signed permission letters and, along with a copy of the permit, we have managed to get Athele, Estelle and Liz along to the barn this morning !
What joy there was … and particularly from me, to find everything in good condition there and exactly as we had left it on 24th March!
So this morning we four ladies gathered at around 9am – for replenishment of square stocks for sewing up.
Liz, Athele and Estelle were getting VERY low on stocks and eking out the last 1 or 2 blankets – so were DELIGHTED when I messaged them on Tuesday to give them the good news about the permits.
And we packed up 12 bags containing 80 blankets, around 80 soft toys, 400 assorted size beanies and a few items of childrens’ clothing we found in the barn – and I delivered them to a neighbour who is making a collection to donate to a squatter camp near Krugersdorp on the West Rand. She had posted on our village whatsapp group on Monday that some 1000, mostly white people, were in desperate need and their pastor was coming to collect – and she was absolutely delighted that we were able to help in a small way.
Ronda promises to let us know as soon as possible when we can start posting are parcels.
