Ever wonder what happens with all that mail that arrives in South Africa?  It goes to the KAS Barn where many volunteers SORT everything out to eventually be distributed to local children.

Please check in here on a regular basis to see photos from all the activity in the KAS Barn during 2019.

More photos of the new pallets making a difference in the Barn.

There was quite a bit of sweeping and dusting while we were rearranging things in the KAS Barn.  We are ready for a new season of delivering blankets.

Lookin' good!!

Hey Bev and Jude, anything look familiar in this photo from the 22?

Oh yes a hand from me and a beautiful bear square from Bev xx

A happy dance, please Jude and Bev!!! Congrats.

Awesome!

Do you all remember this paragraph from Leanne's report earlier this month?

An idea has been suggested by one of our local supporters to aim for a single big distribution in April. A worthy location for the distribution has been identified, an area of particular need. Usually, our distributions involve giving blankets, beanies, hand warmers and toys to between 20 and 60 children at a time, with the largest ones reaching about 100 children. This project would mean reaching close to 1000 children. We've not done such a massive project before but the time-frame makes it feasible. it would mean stockpiling all the blankets that the gogo groups complete and doing fewer weekly outreaches, but the advantage of that would be a saving on petrol. Anyway, we will be able to keep a tally of our stock as it builds up, and that will be interesting for members to see, I'm sure.

Well, here is the first tally.  We can do this KASers.  April 5, 2019 is not that far away.

Look at those new pallets already being used as a staging area.

It sounds like a great idea. We will have to contribute with squares only or  a 1000 hats, hand-warmers and toys as well?  Thanks, Amy.

I will ask......

Good question.  Wouldn't it be great to distribute the entire KAS package: beanie/hat, toy, hand-warmers and blanket.

What a fabulous event that will be!!

All these photos were taken in the Barn on the 22.  Hope you all enjoy!

The TT project (Tracey Timberlake), is where KAS is assembling 950-1000 blankets together for a mass distribution in early April.  Look for a discussion to start soon with all the details and ways that you can help achieve this goal. So far KAS has bagged 300 blankets. Each bag contains 10 blankets.  One bag is full of blankets from Croatia, so it is labeled that way.  All bags will have this KAS information.

Tracey will take delivery of the first 50 bags when they are ready, so the barn will have space for the rest.
