Have you visited our new KAS Shop yet?  If not, please drop in and check us out here

We have introduced several new items in the past few weeks and there are more to come in the near future.

The income from the KAS Shop goes a long way in enabling the team in South Africa to carry on the vital work of wrapping vulnerable children in snuggly blankets made by our members.

Some members prefer to sign up for an ongoing monthly donation through PayPal in order to fund our activities.  These monthly donations are vital!

However, others of us prefer to designate our donations for a specific purpose, or can only donate now and then so prefer to do it by making a shop purchase.

The purpose of this discussion is to get your feedback and comments.  It is sort of a “customer survey” that will help us improve the shop on an ongoing basis.

We will occasionally focus on a “product of the month” and we hope to share with you a monthly overview of what is selling and what is not.

Any good shop needs an interesting inventory that appeals to its customers, so your feedback is essential to our success. With that in mind, we hope you will chime in here and share your thoughts about what is good (and not so good) about the KAS Shop.

We also hope that you will offer suggestions for the Shop – products that you would like to see.  Remember, since this is a “Virtual Shop” all products must be downloadable.

Remember too, that we can accommodate new products that are “personal” – things you want to purchase for yourself, for your own use - like our note card series, which will soon be expanded. A previous discussion indicated there lots of possibilities in this area, so please put your thinking caps on and give us your ideas.

One of the most exciting things that have happened in the KAS Shop lately is the expanded choice for providing fruit and snacks for the children on distribution days.

The GOOD NEWS is that now we can provide a bag of apples for only $5USD or two bags for $10USD.

This is something that most of us can afford to buy frequently, and it makes distribution days very special for the children who really enjoy munching on a treat while waiting for their blankets.

We still have the third option available as well - $30USD – and this amount is enough to allow Ronda to provide extras like bags of rice, dried soups, bread etc. which can be used for lunches for the children for several days.

Lots of options for every budget…….

Anne,  I particularly like the idea of being able to pay for a part of creche snacks or part of the fuel bill for the trip to the creche, I can't afford the whole lot and they do need paying for or the stuff just won't get there.  I also like the option of being able to 'adopt' a child for that visit, makes me feel I'm supporting a particular child.  Also supporting Team SA in it's striving to give the gogo's more than 50p/$1 per blanket.  I look forward  to an extended range, when the 'dust has died down' after the re-organisation.  Am liking the new organisation.....Roz  xx

Thanks for your comment, Roz! I agree - breaking some things down into bite-size chunks (bad pun when we are talking about snacks!), or filling the tank a couple of gallons at a time, is a lot easier for some us.

In a way it is like making a blanket.... one square at a time!

Keep your eye on the Shop and on this space... there's more to come!

Hi Anne.I love the natural world and very often choose to send general notecards or birthday cards showing flowers, butterflies, birds, animals and landscapes etc. I was wondering if we could have cards showing SA flowers, birds, butterflies etc? When I  hosted the garden theme last year, many forum members also seemed to be very fond of flowers and nature,so may be this type of card might be popular?

I just googled 'photos of South African Flowers' and my screen was filled with a collage of beauty! Some familiar flowers and some new to me. This was true for birds and butterflies too. I wondered if this idea might be considered, as forum members might enjoy using cards like this and it would also expand our SA knowledge a little too!

Only a thought.

I love this idea, Chris!  I'll have to mull this over and talk with Louise.  One of our problems is getting permission to use photos.  However, one of my grandaughers, Maddie, is a photographer of some skill and her love is nature photography.  Maybe I could ask her if she would 'give' us some photos - of course they would be Canadian (but wildflowers are wildflowers) and might be a stop-gap until we figure out how we can get some South African ones......or..... we could send Maddie and her camera down there on a photo safari and you and I could go along to point out the things we want her to photgraph???  If Maddie agrees to giving us a few photos I will send them off to you to see what you think.

Hi Anne, I have some pictures of flowers and one of a butterfly. Would you like to see them? Also have you tried Stock-photo? On their website it looks as free downloads of pictures.

Would love to see your photos if you could email them to me Anneke.  I think Christine's idea of "Natural World" cards is wonderful and they might turn out to be good sellers in the Shop because they have mass appeal.

Watch this space.....  because of this discussion, something great has happened.....  but it's a secret for now...can't talk about it yet..... I think you will LOVE what's coming!

Anne, I will email them to you. To your account that I already have? I am very much afraid that I will blow up your computer :)))) Not because it are much pics but they have many pixels. At about 10 pictures.

Ooops! Certainly I will watch this space!!!!  :)))

Let's not blow up my computer!! If they are large files, maybe try one at a time and let's start off with one as a test.  I think you have my email address. from when you sent the photo permissions

Hi Anne, I will send one picture at a time. Don't worry :)) I do not want to downsize them, because I don't know how many pixels you need. Very technical, but I mean to say: it is better that (in case you like them) you make them smaller and so on :))))

I will send one and then wait for your approval to send the next one.

Sounds good to me Anne! Especially the trip to SA for Maddie to photograph nature, with you and I exercising our pointing fingers at what we would like; conserving our energy to join the KAS team for opening and distribution days! Perhaps Louise could join us to 'keep us in order'. We can dream.......
On a more realistic note, SA photos would be great, but I recognise there could be consent issues; so I think if folk show an interest in 'nature cards' and Maddie was willing to help it would be worth pursuing.

Did you know you can find this in the KAS Shop?

The Donate button provides 2 options:

  1. One time donation
  2. Monthly subscription               [click the box]

Because of PayPal/banking fees, KAS asks that your donation be 5USD [or more].  Anything less, means your donation is eaten up with fees.  Thank you!

Our goal is to remove the monthly deficit that Ronda and her team have to deal with. You can:

1. Make a donation whenever you are able.

2. Sign up for an ongoing monthly donation (subscription).

3. Shop at the KasShop!
