Welcome to the theme for December:

CLEAR THE DECKS

I'm sure we all have bags or boxes that look like this:

Look at each ball carefully.

Is there enough yarn left to make 1 Plain Jane?

No? Then maybe a 2 colour stripe or diagonal,

a 3 colour stripe, or a granny square?

Or, if you're thinking big, how about taking inspiration from this masterpiece?

Celebrating Yarn November Theme 2018

(Take a bow, Amy from the USA).

Of course it may be that you have a pile of squares waiting for the ends to be darned in. This is the month to finish them off and get them sent to South Africa.

If you like making hats, hand-warmers or toys, this is also the month for you as these are ideal uses for those partially used balls of yarn.

Pattern on the Month 12-15

So, no excuses -

there's something for everyone this month -

and think how good it will feel to Clear those Decks!

Your solid colours are PERFECTLY matched with your variegateds, Susan. They are sooo pretty!!

I always admire these when you make them Susan.

Wonderful color combinations -- so bright and cheerful!

Contributions from knitters at Earlston Wednesday Club.

Some lovely squares there, Susan. I agree with you about the diagonals - and even more so after my poor attempt at the pattern of the month!

A huge thank you to the EWC, Susan.  These squares are fabulous ... xo

Lovely ladies of the EWC.....LOVELY squares!! That self patterning square is sooo pretty.  :))

I can only echo Bev's comment.  All the squares look terrific, and very warm, but the self patterning one just catches my eye.

Susan, I love all squares you sent but most the variegated one.

I'm trying to take my own suggestions in the introduction and make a variety of items this month. Here is the new favourite, the clever hat.

I used a brightly coloured variegated yarn with alternate stripes of grey.

Exquisite! Thanks, Patricia.

This is a beauty, Patricia!  I like the "topper" better than a pompom.  How did you make that?  xo
